EVERYONE IS/IS ACTING LIKE A PERFORMANCE ARTIST THESE DAYS. SEE FLASH MOBS ETC.
BACK WHEN WE DID IT IN THE 70'S, OUR CALIFORNIA GROUP WAS INTO "HEALING" AND RITUAL AND NON-COMMODIFICATION. NOW IT IS A FREE FOR ALL. WHERE IS THE SACRED? IS IT NECESSARY?
Also what do you think of boundaries in performance art, do you think they have changed from years ago to today, and do you think it is harder to shock an audience today with performance art, like many years ago, Allen Ginsberg 'Howl' for example caused a lot of problems, do you think you could still do that today, or do you feel we are more expected to ideas.
SHOCK HAPPENED BECAUSE THERE WAS NO SOCIAL MEDIA , NO INTERNET, NO FACEBOOK, NO REALIZATION OF ANYTHING BUT OUR OWN INDIVIDUAL PRACTICES. WE SHOCKED OURSELVES INTO A NEW CONSCIOUSNESS...WE SHOCKED OURSELVES INTO FEELING AND LOVE AND LIFE. NOW THERE IS TOO MUCH SHOCK...LIFE ITSELF, AIRPLANE CRASHES, TRAIN CROSSING BATTERINGS, CHILDREN MURDERING CHILDREN, ABDUCTIONS OF WHOLE VILLAGES AND OUT OF CONTROL PLAGUES.
WE WERE PARTLY "AGRICULTURALLY SITUATED" IN THE 70'S. NOW WE HAVE EYES WIDE OPEN AND IT IS A FREE FOR ALL COSMIC UNIVERSE WHERE THE PLAYING FIELD IS OPEN TO ALL.
