PROPOSAL FOR ANCHORAGE MUSEUM: LINDA MARY MONTANO
TITLE: WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER: A WORKSHOP AND TWO PERFORMANCES.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Workshop: ALL TOGETHER: RE-PERFORMING OUR LIFE. Participants will have an opportunity to prepare via warm up exercises, sound exercises, persona morphing and visualizations. And after creating an atmosphere of ease and safety, we will perform aspects of our autobiography for each other so that we can transform something from the past into aesthetic healing. Please bring a wig that you have or have made. Don't buy anything. The workshop and will be private and not for an audience. 2 HOURS
SATURDAY: PERFORMANCE: 3 HOURS AS BOB DYLAN; TOGETHER. I will be on a 14 foot lift, lip synching to Bob Dylan songs, since I have an ability to look like him, given the correct make up. The TOGETHER aspect is that those attending, will be invited to perform/sing the Dylan songs and a microphone will be available. Those from the workshop who wish to volunteer and accompany me, will be there for either all or part of the time, dressed like the singers from ROBERT GRAHAM'S song, and video, ADDICTED TO LOVE. At the end of 3 hours, I will come down from the scissors life, and ADDCITED TO LOVE will be projected and we will all dance TOGETHER, celebrating love. If possible, a popcorn machine will be there , offering a snack to those attending. Q&A. 3 HOURS
SUNDAY: PERFORMANCE 3 HOURS AS MOTHER TERESA; TOGETHER. I will be sitting on top of a 14 foot lift, singing from the book of Psalms. I look like her also!! The TOGETHER aspect will be that those attending will be invited to write prayers and/or share-say a prayer into the microphone.

LINDA MARY MONTANO
Linda Mary Montano is a seminal figure in contemporary feminist performance art and her work since the mid 1960s has been critical in the development of video by, for, and about women. Attempting to dissolve the boundaries between art and life, Montano continues to actively explore her art/life through shared experience, role adoption, and intricate life altering ceremonies, some of which last for seven or more years. Her artwork is starkly autobiographical and often concerned with personal and spiritual transformation. Montano’s influence is wide ranging – she has been featured at museums including The New Museum in New York, MOCA San Francisco and the ICA in London.
